Frame-Perfect Market Data for Retail Investors
FintechMoving live price computation off React Native's single JS thread and onto native worklet threads, so a mid-tier Android phone renders with zero dropped frames.

Overview
A stocks-and-crypto investing app with more than 1,000 active beta users on iOS and Android was dropping frames on live price updates on exactly the mid-tier hardware most of its target users owned, breaking the real-time promise the app was built on. Canvas Labs Partners diagnosed the bottleneck and moved the computation off the single JS thread entirely.

Challenge
Live price updates were dropping frames on mid-tier Android devices. The app's core promise was real-time market data, and that promise was breaking on exactly the hardware most of its target users owned, which meant the people the app was built for were the ones seeing it fail.
Solution
Canvas Labs Partners diagnosed the bottleneck first: React Native's single JavaScript thread was choking on parsing, filtering and sorting live price data as it streamed in. The fix moved that computation onto parallelized native worklet threads written in C++, running across multiple cores so price updates no longer competed with the rest of the UI thread's work.
Alongside the performance work, Canvas Labs Partners built brokerage account linking, a full portfolio module with tax-loss-harvesting views, and deep-linking that takes a user straight into a specific holding. On top of that, a notification system was built to route more than six distinct notification types across the app, so a holder gets the right update without hunting for it.
The app also shipped a conversational AI assistant with voice input and streamed responses, so an answer appears as it is generated rather than all at once. The assistant runs alongside real-time bull and bear analysis, giving a user both a conversational answer and the live case for and against a position.
Results & benefits
Dropped frames on mid-tier Android hardware went to zero once the price-data computation moved off React Native's single JS thread and onto parallelized native worklets, so the app finally kept its real-time promise on the exact phones most of its users carry. Home-screen load time fell by more than 60 percent. The app now has more than 1,000 active beta users across iOS and Android, using an app that links brokerage accounts, tracks a full portfolio with tax-loss-harvesting views, and now runs smoothly on the hardware its target users actually own.

About us
Canvas Labs Partners is a software consulting team that designs and ships production agentic AI systems: multi-agent pipelines, tool-calling architectures, and human-governed automation, together with the trading infrastructure, blockchain, mobile, and product engineering those agents plug into. We publish our work as a case ledger rather than a portfolio, so every claim on this site links to the engagement behind it. Engagements follow the same four-step discipline, Map, Bound, Instrument and Govern, whatever the stack, and every entry in the ledger carries a result we are willing to be measured against.
Delivered individually, in a prior role, by one of Canvas Labs Partners’ founding team members. Not by the firm itself.
